Ferrosilicon Magnesium
Common Ferroalloys
Product information:
Ferrosilicon magnesium (MgFeSi) is a widely used industrial alloy obtained from the combination of iron, silicon, and magnesium. Its primary application is adding magnesium to the cast iron alloy and converting flake graphite into spherical (nodular) graphite, which significantly increases the strength of the final product. The main industrial application of this ferroalloy is in cast iron manufacturing.
Common Classification and Chemical Composition:
Ferrosilicon magnesium is classified into the following categories based on its magnesium content:

Major Applications and Uses:
- Used in the production of ductile iron, compacted graphite iron (CGI), and steel refining
- Enhancing casting quality by increasing melt inoculation
- Improving machinability
- Reducing component brittleness
