Ferromanganese
Common Ferroalloys
Product information:
Ferromanganese is a metallic ferroalloy obtained by combining iron and manganese. Manganese is one of the most vital ferroalloys, widely utilized in industries such as steel and cast iron production. Ferromanganese typically contains 65% to 75% manganese, and high-grade ore with a maximum silica content of 4% to 7% is required for its production.
Common Classification and Chemical Composition:
Generally, ferromanganese is classified into the following categories:

Major Applications and Uses:
- Elimination and mitigation of the detrimental effects of O and S in steelmaking furnaces, as the presence of oxygen and sulfur leads to brittleness in steel.
- Ferromanganese enhances tensile strength, hardness, hardenability, toughness, and workability of steel.
- Foundry industries, electrode manufacturing, chemical industry, electronics, ceramics, and the production of colored lacquers (ferromanganese grades).
- Utilization of manganese in the aluminum industry in two primary forms: manganese metal (manganese flakes) and manganese briquettes/tablets (metallic manganese and manganese tablets).
- In the chemical industry, manganese is commonly used in the production of chemical fertilizers, paint manufacturing, ceramic and tile glazing, and related applications.
