Ferrosilico Aluminum
Special Ferroalloys
Product information:
Ferrosilicon aluminum (FeSiAl) is an engineered ferroalloy derived from ferrosilicon alloys, designed for casting applications that require precise control over impurities and aluminum content. This ferroalloy serves as a strong deoxidizer and reducing agent for the production of other metals and alloys, and is used in thermite welding, the manufacture of exothermic agents, explosives, and more.

Applications:
The use of ferrosilicon aluminum alloy for deoxidation has proven effective in practical applications. Compared to pure aluminum deoxidation, it not only provides a high aluminum yield, but residual aluminum levels are also easily controllable, and inclusion morphology is significantly improved.
The elemental recovery rate of ferrosilicon aluminum alloy is high, primarily due to its high specific gravity. While aluminum has a specific gravity of 2.7 g/cm³, ferrosilicon aluminum (FeAl30Si20) has a specific gravity of 3.5–4.2 g/cm³. Steelmaking slag typically has a specific gravity of 2.8–3.2 g/cm³; therefore, upon addition, this alloy sinks into the melt, effectively controlling the reaction of aluminum with air and oxygen within the slag.
- Inoculation: Adding low-aluminum ferrosilicon to molten metal promotes graphite nucleation during solidification, leading to the formation of a more refined and uniform microstructure. This results in improved mechanical properties, such as enhanced tensile strength, ductility, and impact resistance in final castings.
Controlled Solidification: The use of low-aluminum ferrosilicon helps regulate the solidification process of the molten metal, minimizing the formation of undesirable phases and microstructural defects. This ensures the production of high-quality castings with consistent properties and dimensional accuracy.
Cast Iron Foundry Applications: Low-aluminum ferrosilicon is commonly utilized as an inoculant in foundry operations, particularly in the production of ductile iron castings. It facilitates the formation of nodular graphite nuclei in molten iron, enhancing the mechanical properties and machinability of the cast components.
